Jesus is the one the scriptures call  "...the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power." (Hebrews 1:3)

If your picture of God doesn't look like Jesus, it's not God. To the extent that your picture of God doesn't look like Jesus is also the extent to which your picture of God is not God in truth.

If you gave up on faith or church because of the pain and suffering in the world, the scandals in the church, or the hypocrisy of organized religion, please consider: Jesus went to the cross for you. God went to the cross for you, willingly. He endured the pain and suffering we deserve, paid the price of religious hypocrisy, and scandalized the religious establishment to give us the life we don't deserve and could never obtain.

Because of this, the love, grace and mercy of God, which was previously restrained by the law has been unleashed. There are now no obstacles to experiencing the reality of God in our lives other than the hardness of our own hearts.

And if your picture of God has previously been one of an angry, vindictive, unpredictable, unstable deity, there is a great chance your heart has grown hardened to the idea of God. However, you will be hardened to a false picture of God. The shame of it is if you throw out the baby with the bathwater because of a portrait of God that was painted poorly by the church.

The true nature of God is Jesus, crucified, forgiving the very ones who were murdering him, and offering the kingdom of God and eternal life to thieves, prostitutes and tax collectors, apart from any moral system.

The result of accepting this offer is utter transformation over time. We thought we were basically good but the closer we get to Jesus, the more we will see the sin behind our sin. The more we will reject that sin (greed, fear, worry, pride etc) the more good we will actually become. To be sure, it won't be really us - but Christ in us.

Think of a relationship with Jesus as a mingling of souls. His purifies ours.

There is no other religion, system, ideal or way of life that has a solid enough foundation to offer such things.

It's in Christ alone.
